Vets Padel World Championships gets underway

Ben Gudzelak and the rest of the British Padel team at the Vets world championship in SpainBen has set his out of office as The Vets Padel World Championships gets underway today in Estepona, Spain.

The competition starts with the age group doubles tournaments, followed by three round robin team matches.

Great Britain opened their campaign today against Germany in the team event. The five match contest consists of five pairs split by age: 55+, 50+, 45+, 40+ and 35+.

The team competition comprises four groups, each composed of four teams. The top two from each group progress to play for the 1-8 positions, whilst the bottom two teams then play for the 9-16 positions.

As this is the inaugural Vets Padel World Championships the standard going into the event is somewhat unknown. Early indicators however are that the standard is very high, as the first day of play has seen only one British pair pick up a win. Great Britain will be fighting hard to establish the highest world ranking possible.
